It does not in any way avoid the problem of lack of effort in the past but is great at helping you in your way forward in your forthcoming examinations.

This guide is structured around your stages of study.

Please select the most applicable stage of your revision:

  • Plan Revision
Do not pretend that everything can be done quickly especially not the night before. Work out long you have available and plan how to use your time. Look at our plan revision guide.
  • Preparation
Make sure that you know what you will be examined in every subject and when you are required to be there. Have a look at syllabus for this year's exams and past examination papers.

Make sure you have the right equipment-- solar powered calculators may not be ideal in a dark room.

Do you know where and when your exams are--What are the exam rules? Do not try to cheat.

Wear suitable clothing for the exam. If the rules allow you may want to take some food and drink as well.
  • In the examination room
Read the Instructions carefully--do the right number of questions and do not worry about the order in which you do them in.

Make sure that you complete all the compulsory questions and the required number of optional questions.

Plan your time--this often costs significant marks. Weight your time to the marks available.

Read the requirement , read the text, plan and then write the answer.

Answer the answers set not what you hoped would be the question.

Make you answers clear and present diagrams in pencil with labels.

  • After the examination
Don't worry about the one that you have just taken--look for the next one

  • Do not panic
Exams are NOT there to fool you.
Be calm--thoughtful and enjoy exams!

This is not intented to avoid the problem of lack of effort…. Just give you every chance to do better in your exams.
